The racking of the balls is a very important thing to do correctly in any kind of game of pool.  In this article we will focus on the game of 8-ball and how the rack should be done.  Remember a rack can be made from plastic or even wood, but both are in the shape of a triangle.

Here are the steps to go about racking the balls for the game of 8-ball.  You will need to put the rack so that is has one corner on the foul spot.  Nest you need to put the one at the top of the rack, it’s not really mandatory, but is the way it is usually done.  The other balls can be placed in any spot of the rack except the eight must be in the middle.  Put the top ball on the foul mark, next make sure that the balls are tight, if they are not the break will be sloppy.  The way to go about doing this is to place your fingers on the rack and push the balls up towards the top. 

Other games of pool have different ways that you should rack the ball, and the game of 9-ball will use a diamond rack and the nine ball will be the lowest ball in the rack.  But for the game of 8-ball this is the easiest way to explain how to rack a good set of balls for a good break.

If you’re not that great at making a tight rack, you can practice this too it will become better just as your game of pool will become better with practice.  So now that you know how to rack the balls go ahead and get out there and start playing some 8-ball or another game.  It’s a game that is fun and will keep you entertained for hours!
