Rules and Strategies for 9-ball

To play 9-ball you should know the rules and possible strategies to winning the game.  Of course 9-ball is played with nine balls; these are racked and set up, ensuring that the balls are as tightly together as possible.  One person will break; this will either be determined by lagging or lot.

One of the main strategies of 9-ball is to make a ball in on the break, and to continue shooting the balls in numerical order until the nine ball is hit into the pocket.  Thus you end the game with a win.

9-ball is a fairly simple game in that you shoot the balls in numerically, if you shot a ball out of order you have committed a foul and your turn will end.  To play 9-ball you should do the same as in straight pool or 8-ball and plan your shots ahead.  With doing this you may be able to run the table and leave the other person standing without making a shot.

This most of the time can be done by professionals as long as they make a ball on the break.  This of course is frustrating to the other player, but it shows the skill of the person who was able to hit all the balls in.  You should also remember that controlling the speed of your ball is very important as in any game of pool.  If you try to hit it hard all the time it will be hard to get the cue ball to stop where you will want it to be.

9-ball can be a very quick game to play, and you can master the game with practice too, so when you’re wondering what to do with your free time go and shoot a game of 9-ball by yourself and plan your shots and see how well you do.  Practice will get you to the head of the class!
